White on White
White on white, and still it moves.
A single stroke loops down the canvas in paint laid on thick, pale as the ground beneath it, so what reaches you first is not colour but relief. Light does the work. It catches along the raised ridges and pools in the troughs, and the whole surface shifts as you cross the room. Stand close and you can read the pressure of the hand that made it, where the paint gathered and where it thinned and dragged away.
It asks for very little. A quiet wall, a shelf above the bed, a corner where the afternoon comes in sideways. Lean it rather than hang it and let it sit among the books and the stoneware, one more object collecting light. Picture your mornings beside it. Nothing shouts, and everything is awake.
