A vintage table from India, made of thick planks worn dark and smooth by hands and time. Metal plates wrap each corner, set with round studs, and slim stretchers brace the legs above and below. Nothing fussy, nothing added. Just old wood that still stands square.
At 30 inches it sits a little taller than most bedside tables, so the lamp, the book, the glass of water are right there when you reach. Set your things down at night; find them waiting in the morning. It is just as good beside a deep reading chair or at the end of a sofa.
It brings earthiness and depth to a room - something grounded and ancestral to sit beside softer things, linen and plaster and light.
