Long Low Riser
Two feet of plain pale wood, built to lift things off the ground.
The form is the whole of it. A flat top running twenty four inches, two square legs dropped straight down, the end grain left exposed where they meet. The wood is light and dry with an open grain, unfinished or close to it, so it will warm and darken with handling the way bare wood does.
Run it along the foot of a bed, under a window, beneath a low shelf. Set vessels on it at different heights, or a row of books, or a single large bowl and nothing else. The length is what makes it useful. Most risers are too short to compose on.
