Hammered Dome Pendant Light

A deep metal dome, hammered by hand, hung on a plain black cord.

The shade is a true half sphere in dark antiqued metal, its whole outer surface worked over in small overlapping hammer marks so the light that falls on it breaks into hundreds of soft points rather than one hard reflection. The interior is left lighter, which throws a warmer pool downward. A simple cylindrical collar joins it to the cord, with no visible hardware beyond that.

Hang it low over a kitchen island, a work table, a run of counter. The dome is deep enough to shield the bulb completely from standing eye level, so you get the light without the glare. Two are available, and a pair over a long surface reads better than one.
