Dark Wood Slab Side Table
Four planes of dark wood and nothing else. The whole table is one idea, carried out.
A thick slab top sits on two solid panel legs with a third panel bracing between them. No turning, no hardware, no ornament. The wood is dark and open grained, scrubbed down rather than polished, with saw marks still readable across the underside of the top and a dry matte surface that takes the light without giving it back.
At sixteen inches it lands low, the right height beside a deep chair or at the end of a bed. A glass, a stack of books, a lamp with a small footprint. It is heavier than it looks and it does not move once you put it somewhere.
