Country Willow Olive Painted Bookcase
Tall and quiet, in a painted olive green the color of moss after rain. A bookcase with the bearing of an old European armoire, left open to the room.
The green is layered, never flat. A soft glaze settles into every recess so the moldings read deeper, with only the softest marks of a life already lived. A stepped cornice crowns the top, finished at each front corner with a small carved square. Behind the shelves, a beadboard back runs from base to crown in fine vertical lines. Two drawers sit low across the bottom, each with a single round knob, and the whole piece rests on four reeded bun feet.
Fill it slowly. Art books and worn paperbacks, a stack of folded linen, a bowl carried home from somewhere, the things you want close. The shelves adjust to what you keep, and the drawers hold what you would rather not see. Six feet tall and just over three feet wide, it gives a bare wall the feeling of architecture without asking for the whole room.
