Carved Mask with Ochre Pigment

A long oval face carved from a single block of wood, the brow rising in a soft heart shape above eyes cut to narrow slits. The nose runs the whole length of the face and comes to a point, and the whole surface is worked in fine parallel grooves that catch light differently from every angle.

Ochre pigment sits in the high planes and has worn away where hands have touched it most, leaving the dark wood showing through. The wear is the piece. It is not a flaw and it is not reproducible.

One of one. Comes on the black display stand shown, so it can sit on a console, a mantel, or a stack of books without anything further.
