A deep red centre banked by ochre and burnt orange, scraped back and layered until the surface holds light like an old wall. Near the bottom a narrow band of pale blue and white cuts through, the one cool note in all that heat.
It wants low lamplight and a quiet corner. In the evening it seems to glow from inside.
