A carved bergere chair, whitewashed by hand until the wood beneath shows through like something the years did on their own.

The frame is soft with age. Cream paint chipped back to warm honey wood at every edge that a hand or a hem would touch, the kind of wear that only comes from actually being lived with. Underneath it, real carving. Wheat sheaves and acanthus leaves run the crest and the legs on one, curling wheat rising with every stalk turned by hand. On the other, carved heads sit at the top of each front leg, watching, their manes carved feather by feather down into the wood. Both sit low and tub backed, upholstered in a brown suede so soft it reads almost like skin, piped at every seam.

Pull it up to a window and let the afternoon find it. Set your coffee on the arm, your book on the seat when you stand, your hand on the carved wood without thinking about it. This is a chair that asks to be touched, that gets better for it, the paint wearing thinner and the wood warming further with every season you keep it close.

Available in two motifs, priced the same and each sold on its own. The Harvest carries the wheat sheaf carving, The Guardian carries the carved dog head watching from each arm.
