A camelback sofa in velvet the color of a fawn.

The back rises in one long arch and falls away again, like a breath. Scroll arms curl outward to meet you. The velvet is a warm mushroom tan with a deep, soft nap, silver where the light touches it and darker wherever your hand has passed. One long bench cushion runs the full length, so you can stretch out and stay. Underneath, six mahogany legs, the front ones finely reeded, held steady by low stretchers. Chippendale bones; a soft body.

Lie back with a book and let the afternoon go. It holds you, and lets you be held.

It brings softness and quiet to a room, a warm neutral that makes plaster glow and dark wood look richer. Grounded, a little feminine, a feeling of breath.
