What Does It Mean to Flourish?

Posted by Caroline Griggs on

Something has been on my mind lately, and I just had to share it with you, what does it actually mean to flourish? And not in a "vision board and green juice" kind of way. More like... the real, lived, sometimes-awkward-but-beautiful kind.

So let's talk about it. Flourishing, at its heart, is about coming alive. It's what happens when you give yourself permission to express who you truly are, through the way you create, the way you play, the way you show up in your own life. It's the spark you feel when you're doing something that lights you up, the quiet satisfaction of making something that's entirely yours. Flourishing isn't about having it all figured out, it's about leaning into joy, letting your creativity run a little wild, and expressing yourself without waiting for the "right" moment. Because honestly? This moment is it.

And the beautiful thing? You don't need a grand plan or a perfect moment to start. Flourishing shows up in the small stuff, the doodle in your notebook, the song you sing too loudly in the car, the idea you finally let yourself say out loud. It's in every little act of choosing yourself, your joy, and your creative spark over waiting for permission that was never anyone else's to give.

Honestly, this is exactly how OE was born. I didn't build it from a business plan, I built it by following the nudges. The little sparks of joy that said "yes, this, more of this." Creating OE was itself an act of flourishing, learning, in real time, what it means to live a life guided by creativity and self-expression rather than fear or perfection. Every product, every decision, every new idea, it all comes back to this: what lights me up, and what I hope lights you up too.

Some weeks you're blooming. Some weeks you're just... surviving. And guess what? Both count.

This week, I'm inviting you to pause for just a moment and ask yourself:

  • What creative urge have I been putting off?

  • Where can I make a little more room for joy today?

  • What would it feel like to express myself more freely and fully?

There's no right answer. There's just your answer. And that's more than enough.

NOW FOR THE FUN PART — I want to hear from YOU!

Hit reply and finish this sentence: "Right now, I'm slowly but surely flourishing in..."

It can be big, tiny, silly, or profound, all answers welcome! I read every single reply and honestly, they are the highlight of my week. Let's make this a conversation, not just a newsletter.

with love,

Caroline
