Vintage Strié Velvet Club Chair · $850 · 30"W x 33"D x 26 1/4"H, seat height 17"

A low, deep club chair dressed head to toe in strié velvet the color of late sun on brass. It pulls the whole room a little closer.

The velvet is the thing. A crushed, striated pile that shifts from bronze to deep chocolate as the light moves over it, catching gold along every crease and holding shadow in the folds. Cream welt traces the entire piece, every seam and edge outlined in a soft pale line, so the silhouette reads clean even as the surface shimmers. Run your hand across it and the nap turns under your palm, light one way, dark the other. The arms are cut with a gentle scoop at the top, the body sits low and square, and even the short sculpted feet are wrapped in velvet, so the chair seems to rise straight up out of the floor.

Sink in and you understand it. The seat is generous and deep, a loose cushion over a loose back, made for a long afternoon rather than a quick sit. Picture your evenings here. A book held open, a glass set down within reach, a candle burning low while the light leaves the room. This is a chair that asks you to stay.

It carries its history honestly. Gentle wear and a soft patina in the pile are part of the piece, the mark of a velvet that has already been loved and has plenty of loving left in it. Nothing about it feels new, and that is exactly the point.

Strié / crushed velvet upholstery in bronze-gold with contrasting cream self-welt, fully upholstered frame including the sculpted bracket feet, loose seat and back cushions. Vintage, good condition with light wear consistent with age.
