A small table that stops you where you stand. The top is a burl walnut mosaic, oyster-cut sections laid edge to edge so the grain swirls and pools like water caught mid-turn. No two eyes of the burl are the same, and under a low light the whole surface goes to warm amber and deep chocolate, alive with figure.

The frame is solid walnut, warm and hand-rubbed. It rides on four cabriole legs that curve out and taper down to soft pad feet, the shape our grandmothers called Queen Anne, quiet and a little sensual in the way it bows. A gently scalloped apron runs beneath the top, and a fine molded lip frames the burl like a picture worth keeping.

It asks for very little room and gives a lot back. Set it beside the bed for a book and a glass of water, at the end of the sofa for your coffee and a candle, in an entry for the keys and the mail and the small still life your days leave behind. The burl has darkened and settled over the years, and every mark it carries is part of how it got here. Live with it and it only deepens.
