Small, curved, and unhurried. A vintage French writing desk in burled walnut, kidney-shaped, made for one person and her thoughts.

The form is pure Louis XV. A raised tier of three small drawers along the back, a single drawer at your knee, and long cabriole legs that slip down to slender brass feet. Burl swirls across every surface like weather, framed in fine lines of string inlay, and aged brass traces each curved edge. Nothing about it is square, and that is the point. It holds the wall softly.

Picture it catching the morning light. A candle at one corner, letters folded into the small drawers, your pen exactly where you left it the night before. The writing surface sits at a natural height for a chair you already own, and the whole desk asks for less than three feet of wall, then gives you back a room of your own.

This piece has lived, and it shows you where. The burl top carries soft shadows and faded rings from the years of hands, ink, and cups that rested there, and the brass has mellowed to a quiet antique green. We priced it with that history in mind. It is not a reproduction of a life. It is one.
