A small chair that behaves like a sculpture. The back and seat curve in one continuous shell, split by a single soft seam down the spine, the whole form rounded and cocooning above four slim black metal legs that almost disappear beneath it.

It wears a dusty rose velvet, a muted clay-pink that warms toward terracotta in the light and cools to mauve in shadow. The shell shape cups the body, high and enclosing at the back, generous through the seat. The black legs taper to fine points, holding the soft volume aloft so it reads as light as it is comfortable.

The form is the Beetle, designed by GamFratesi for the Danish house GUBI in 2013 and now a modern classic. The duo studied the anatomy of beetles, drawn to the way a hard protective shell caresses the soft, vulnerable body within. That contradiction, rigid outside and yielding inside, became the chair: a continuous curved shell with room for deep padding, the joint between seat and back left flexible so it moves with you. Beautiful at a dining table, a desk, or as a single soft accent in a corner.
