Low and regal, a settee carved from solid walnut and wrapped in leather the color of aged cognac. The kind of seat a room quietly arranges itself around.

The frame is all hand carving. A carved crest of leaves and a half-opened bud crowns the back, the arms scroll and taper, and the whole piece rides on fluted legs turned fine as candlesticks, each meeting the rail at a small carved rosette. The leather has lived. Burnished caramel deepening to amber at the folds, a soft grain that has drunk in years of light, a hand-braided whipstitch running the seams like a plait of rope. Run your hand along the back and you feel the nailheads, the cool carved wood, the give of real hide under your palm.

Picture your evenings here. The low sun catching the leather until it glows, a book open on the cushion, a glass set down on the arm, the patina only richer for the living. This is leather you are meant to touch and wood that was meant to be leaned on. It wears its small marks like a well-loved jacket, and every one of them is the point.

Finished in leather front and back, so it can float in the middle of a room or hold a wall. Set it under a window, throw a sheepskin over one arm, or leave it exactly as it is. Either way it settles in beside you like it has always been there.
