The Ember Curve Sofa
Burnt orange velvet, curved like a held breath. One continuous sweep of a back that folds down into low arms and gathers you in.
The silhouette is mid-century and entirely round. No hard corners anywhere, no squared shoulders. The back rises tall at center and pours down in an unbroken line into arms that curl forward, low and open, so the whole piece reads as one shell rather than a frame with parts bolted on. A single welt cord traces that edge from arm tip to arm tip, the one line of definition in an otherwise soft form. Underneath, four slim walnut legs, tapered and slightly splayed, lift it just enough to let light run beneath.
The velvet is the reason you will keep touching it. Deep rust with a directional nap, so the color moves as you do. Molten and lit where the light rakes across it, banked and dark where it turns away. Run a hand over the seat and it changes under your palm. Three loose cushions sit across the bench, three long lumbar pillows rest at the back, all of it soft enough to sink into and deep enough to stay.
Picture your evenings here. Legs up, a blanket pulled over, the lamp low. This is a sofa that wants a body on it, not an admirer across the room. The color does the work of a fire without needing one.
Set it against raw plaster or a deep green wall and it becomes the warmest thing in the room. Float it in the middle of a space if you can, because the curved back is as beautiful as the front and deserves to be seen. Keep the styling around it quiet, one low table, one tall vessel, and let the color carry the rest. Brush the nap in one direction now and then to keep the pile even, and vacuum gently with an upholstery attachment. It settles in like it has always been there.
