The Chandigarh Chair
The frame holds a lean, angled stance, legs splayed wide at the base and drawing narrow at the top, wood finished in a deep amber that warms under any light. The seat and back are hand-woven in wide black strapping, each band pulled taut and interlocked in a simple over-under pattern that reads modern and handmade at once.
This woven form carries the lineage of Pierre Jeanneret's furniture for Chandigarh in the 1950s, when teak frames and taut strapping were built to hold up through heat, humidity, and decades of daily use. It sits low and holds its shape from every angle, at ease alone at a desk or gathered three and four around a table.
