Pale ash and soft white suede, built on a geometry that does all the talking. A pair of chairs that hold a room still.

The frame is the whole argument. Each front leg is a single flat plank of blond ash that rises and turns one sharp corner into a straight arm rail, running level all the way back to a curved crescent that cradles the shoulders. Nothing is carved, nothing is hidden. Behind, two slim stiles drop to the floor with a hair of daylight between them, and the small dark bolt heads are left right where you can see them, the way honest furniture shows its own joins. The ash is nearly white, the grain open and rippling, warm under your hand where the arm has been touched.

The cushions float. A crescent at the back, a separate welted seat below it, both wrapped in a microsuede so matte it drinks the light rather than throwing it back. Run your palm across the seat and the nap shifts and settles. It is the softest thing in the room and the most disciplined, all at once.

Picture your mornings here. Pulled up to the table, or angled toward each other in a corner with something small between them. At 18.5 inches the seat sits at true dining height, so these move easily between a table and a room of their own. Two of them make a conversation. One of them makes a place to put your coat down and then, eventually, yourself.

They ask for very little. Bare plaster, bare floor, one dark vessel nearby, and they look like they were commissioned for the space.

Materials

A pale blond ash frame in a natural matte finish, with visible open grain and exposed bolt fixings at the front legs and back rail. Seat and back cushions upholstered in a warm greige off-white microsuede, welted at the seams. New, never used.

Care

Microsuede takes a soft brush. Vacuum with a brush head, lift marks with a barely damp cloth and let it dry on its own, then brush the nap back up. Keep out of long direct sun so the greige stays true.
