Smoked lilac velvet, worn soft by years of use. A pair of low, square-armed club chairs that settle into a room rather than announce themselves.
The form is clean and low-slung: flat track arms, a single loose seat cushion, a bolster of a back cushion that rises above the arm line. The velvet catches the light in long strié streaks, pale where it has been sat in and touched, deeper where it hasn't. Tapered brushed nickel legs lift the whole thing just off the floor. Under your hand the pile shifts direction with every pass, warm and a little worn, the way velvet is supposed to age.
Picture them flanking a window, or pulled close for two people who want to talk. The wear is real and it is part of what you are buying, a soft patina rather than a flaw, the kind of fading only years of mornings and books and bodies can make.
