Antique Mahogany Bow-Front Side Table

The front bows out in a soft serpentine curve, the kind of line no one bothers with anymore. Two drawers, each drawn open by a pair of little white porcelain knobs worn smooth by other hands, and a small brass keyhole set into the top drawer like a held secret. The mahogany is figured and honest, its grain running warm and open beneath a top polished by decades of use, and a fine beaded edge follows every drawer. It stands tall on square tapering legs that end in brass caps and small brass casters, so the whole piece rolls where you want it and never feels heavy.
Below the drawers, an open shelf for the things you reach for at night. Picture your evenings here. A lamp throwing its low pool of light, a stack of books on the shelf below, a candle burning down beside a cup gone cold, the small still life of your days collecting on top. Keep it at the side of the bed, at the end of a sofa, in the narrow spot beside a reading chair. It asks for very little and gives back that particular calm only old wood carries, the sense that it was here long before you and will stay long after.

Materials
Solid and veneered mahogany with a bowed front, white porcelain knobs, a brass keyhole, and square tapered legs on brass caps and casters. Warm aged patina throughout, consistent with age and gentle use.
