Antique Chinese Oxblood Lacquer Cabinet
Deep oxblood lacquer, worn soft with age, so the wood glows where the years have touched it most. This cabinet holds a whole history in its surface.
Two hinged doors meet at a center seam beneath one round brass medallion, its ring pulls hanging low and heavy, worn to a warm dark gold where hands have rested for generations. Four smaller brass roundels mark each corner. At the top edges, the lacquer has thinned to bare wood, gold against oxblood, the kind of wear you cannot fake. The case sits flush to the floor, no legs, a low continuous weight in the room.
Picture it in your entry, your dining room, your bar. Open the doors and it holds what your life asks of it: linens, glassware, records, the things you reach for daily and the things you keep. Closed, it is simply itself, a low dark weight in the room that the eye returns to.
